Unnamed Resolution on Proposed Echo Park Dam in Dinosaur National Monument

WHEREAS the construction of the proposed Echo Park Dam in Dinosaur National Monument would create a definite legal precedent prejudicial to the continued survival of our National Parks and Monuments; and

WHEREAS there appear to be valid considerations indicating that the Echo Park Dam is not the only solution of the requirements of the Colorado River compact;

BE IT RESOLVED that The American Society of Mammalogists, at its 34th annual meeting held in Estes Park, Colorado, 16 June, 1954, urges the appointment by the President of the United States of a qualified non-Federal board for the impartial investigation of the necessity for the invasion of this National Monument.
