Resolution on Protection of Endangered Species in Indochina

WHEREAS, the countries of Laos, Cambodia, and Viet Nam have newly formed governments; and

WHEREAS, rare or endangered mammalian species exist in these countries; and

WHEREAS, there has been extreme disruption of the natural environment in this region; and

WHEREAS, there is no knowledge about any developing programs to conserve and protect these mammals;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the American Society of Mammalogists supports such respected international agencies as the World Wildlife Fund and the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources in their efforts to secure the protection of the existing endangered mammalian species that reside in these countries.
