WHEREAS the House of Representatives and Senate of the United States Congress have voted to extend the Endangered Species Act for three years; and
WHEREAS the continued enforcement of the act will provide protection for those mammals and other organisms which may be susceptible to extinction; and
WHEREAS this act will foster continued cooperation between various groups, agencies, and governing bodies;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the American Society of Mammalogists endorses this action by the Congress and urges that such efforts be continued in the future.
