STATE-SPECIFIC LISTS OF INDIGENOUS MAMMALS

We are in the process of developing lists of the mammals that occur in every U.S. state. Eventually, we hope to include the Canadian provinces and Mexico. Each list was developed as an Excel spreadsheet, and contains at least the following information about each species:

  • common name
  • scientific name of the species
  • family and order to which it belongs
  • its status in the state
  • its distribution in the state
  • the images of the species that are available through ASM*
  • the number of the Mammalian Species account**

*photographic slides that can be purchased through the ASM mammalian image library.

**these are 5-10 pages of information on the species, which are published as part of an ongoing series by the ASM.

If your state’s name below is in red, you can click on it to learn about its indigenous mammals.
