Committee Charge:

History and Mission
The Board of Directors established the International Relations Committee in 1960 to maintain and enhance communication between members of the Society and mammalogists outside North America. The mission of this committee is to advance the field of mammalogy by encouraging and facilitating international collaboration among members of the ASM and mammalogists from other countries.

Responsibilities
This committee serves as an official contact with the organizing committees of the International Theriological Congresses and updates Society members about this and other international conferences that focus on mammals.

The Committee also compiles and organizes a list of contacts with other mammal societies throughout the world and makes it available to ASM members with the intent to bolster true international collaboration and facilitate opportunities for conducting studies in other countries.

Committee Notes:

The International Relations Committee needs nominations of potential recipients of donated ASM memberships. Nominations should include the name, institution, postal address, and email of potential beneficiaries in less developed countries and should be sent to Carlos Iudica, Chair (casaiud@susqu.edu).

ASM has a "buddy system" to assist non-English speaking authors. "Buddies" are mammalogists who have offered to preview manuscripts that need editorial revision for English. Authors interested in having a manuscript previewed should contact the Journal Editor or an Associate Editor for Journal of Mammalogy. Individuals interested in having their names added to the list of "buddies" should contact William Lidicker (lidicker@socrates.Berkeley.edu).

The International Relations Committee wants to update its record of Mammal Societies of the World (posted in pdf document below). We would like to include, whenever possible, the actively maintained web pages of such societies. Carlos Iudica, Chair (casaiud@susqu.edu) for additions or corrections.
