To apply for this award you will need a manuscript describing your current research:
- The 1000 word research statement should be in the format used by Journal of Mammalogy. You may submit either pdf or doc files.
- The statement should have the following clearly labeled sections: Title, Project Significance/Theoretical Context, Methods, Results, and Discussion/Interpretation.
- Include key figures/tables (3 items maximum) with concise captions to support your results.
- Include contact information: address, phone, fax, and e-mail.
- For the file attachment, please use this naming convention: 'LASTNAME_Honoraria' (ex. Smith_Honoraria.doc).
- Remember to solicit a reference letter from an individual familiar with your work. Have that individual email their letter directly to the chair of the Honoraria Committee (Virginia Hayssen, vhayssen@science.smith.edu). Make certain that your recommender knows to address 2 points in addition to your general strengths: 1) if the student will be prepared to present the research project in the Plenary Session of the upcoming Annual Meeting and 2) the student's role in designing and conducting the research, especially in the case of collaborative research. We seek to recognize students who have been primarily responsible for the design and/or conduct of the submitted research project (normally the student's thesis or dissertation research). Any letter that does not clearly address the two points stated above will result in disqualification of the applicant.
